卧室制作人博客:DR-84 Is A FREE Retro Drum Machine Plugin

Pepto Audio releases DR-84, a freeware drum machine VST plugin for Windows and macOS.

If you have been hankering after a retro drum sound for your projects, here’s a great little drum machine that puts together some of the best drum machines from the 80s.

It combines the goodness from the likes of Linn Drums, Roland TR-707, E-MU Drumulator, Oberheim DMX, Yamaha RX11, and the Simmons SDSV module to create a wholesome plugin that is currently available for free!

There are also three kits that are created with the sounds of modern synthwave/retrowave producers in mind. The good news for audio purists here is that only these three kits have been processed for their audio stylings. The rest of the kits have been left untouched so that you can enjoy the raw original sound and do with it as you wish.

Here’s an overview of the included drum kits:

  • 14 Kits in total.
  • 6 Drum machine kits.
  • 1 Electronic drum module kit.
  • 4 Hybrid kits.
  • 3 Modern synthwave kits.

Apart from collecting drum sounds from a whole lot of popular retro machines, the plugin also features some basic filters and FX features such as a built-in reverb, a low pass filter, and individual controls for each drum piece. The best part is that it also has a multi-output option so that you can record each drum sound as a separate layer within your DAW. This part is going to make a lot of producers really happy.

The UI is very basic and can even be called retro. It is not going to win any awards for sure, but it will certainly get the job done. Apart from that, we can’t really complain about such a comprehensive plugin that is offered for free.

The plugin also features a handful of built-in effects like reverb and filter. Multiple outputs are available so that each drum channel can be routed independently to your DAW’s mixer.

DR-84 is available in VST and AU plugin formats for Windows and macOS.
